Yo, looking back at this, I could interpret the repetitiveness like this: Every year it was the same old bs of me wishing that I could "take off the mask" and be myself and then it doesn't happen and then I hope to find an opportunity next year, and then the next year, and then the next... until it was senior year of high school and I saw no use in promising promises I can't keep...
When I made this, I was in my last semester in my senior year of high school. During that period, I had many inner conflicts. One was that I was upset about how disconnected I let myself become from my classmates, & how they had no problem with me being disconnected from them. Even though I've been around these people for 6 to 7 years, they didn't know "me". That's why I titled the track like this back then.
