The fakie is something known as 'sidechaining'. basically it helps bring out the kick drum. it really works best on soundation to use the fakie when you have your kick playing on every beat because they way soundation works. better studios let you sidechain anywhere you want, so you can do it with any kick pattern. a better sidechain than soundation would basically lower the volume of whatever you select slightly when the kick is played. you can set the db by which it is lowered. unfortuantely, soundation doesn't allow this
