The violin sounds kind of Middle Eastern to me, what do you think about it? I think it sounds this way because of the scale that the violin is being played in. Middle Eastern music has many different kinds of scales that organize pitches into different patterns, and because we're not used to the way those pitches are organized, Middle Eastern (and other international music) might sound foreign to our ears.
