as NUKT said, loops are cool at the beginning but the real creativity shows itself when the melodies are original, when the drums are arranged personally, etc.
it's normal to use loops! just be sure to keep them as an additional sound to your track. keep going!!!
you double click to make note clips. clicking on different spaces creates different notes. the thicker lines in the piano roll are the beats. you can change what instrument you're playing and even make your own synth sounds.
Tip to get bigger as a user: don't use loops. Use the instrument channels to make your own beats and melodies instead of dragging and dropping those Splice things.
